The SCM Difference

A Cut Above The Rest

SCM is a leading foundation excavation & piling contractor in South Florida’s Tri-County area, with rapid growth along the East Coast. Our mission is to deliver innovative, practical excavation support systems and value-engineered foundations, always on time. Backed by a skilled team of geotechnical engineers, project managers, operators, machinists, and support staff, we efficiently handle even the toughest projects. Developers trust us to collaborate with their Geotechnical and Structural engineers, designing cost-effective foundations, excavation systems, and ground improvement solutions. By investing in advanced equipment and innovative drilling techniques, we excel in challenging ground conditions, enhancing productivity, and reducing client costs.

We ensure Quality Control and Assurance by self-performing checks on all projects. Our advanced drill rigs feature real-time technology that allows operators and engineers to monitor critical drilling data, ensuring accurate installation of deep foundations and ground improvement elements. Each rig records key metrics, including start/stop times, diameter, length, pump strokes, grout volume, penetration/retraction rates, crowd pressure, and head torque. This data is used to verify the quality and precision of production piles.

During the testing phase, we leverage cutting-edge technology to ensure precision and quality. Techniques include Thermal Integrity Profiling (TIP) for uncased drilled elements, strain gauges and tell-tales for load testing, in-situ grout sampling, and grout volume calibration.

We also collect site-specific soil samples, combining them with binders and admixtures to determine the ideal mix design for soil mixing. Throughout testing and production, we gather wet grab samples of soil mix walls, in-situ cast samples, and cores. These samples are sent to a laboratory for permeability testing and compressive strength analysis, including strain measurements to calculate the modulus.
